Classic African Hunting offers fair chase, free range hunting in 2 of Zimbabwe's prime big game hunting concessions in north western Zimbabwe, Matetsi Unit 2 and Kazuma Forest.
The concessions vary from the mixed woodland, rolling hills and vleis of Matetsi Unit 2 to the red gusu sands and thick teak forests of Kazuma Forest.
Our history in this area goes back to the early 80s when our father, PH Johnnie Johnson , would conduct safaris here , many of which we were fortunate enough to accompany during school holidays.
It has therefor been a dream come true to have secured the leases of both Matetsi Unit 2 and neighboring Kazuma Forest, making up just under 130 000 acres of increasingly rare , free range , un-fenced, wild, big game country.
ZIMBABWE
Since the mid 1800's the wild , remote western area of Zimbabwe has attracted hunters and explorers such as Baines , Selous , Oates and Barbe. The early trading post of Pandamatenga (located on the south western boundary of our hunting area) was a hot spot for trading in ostrich feathers, ivory, hides and general goods. It was also a base from which to hunt the surrounding areas and visit the Victoria Falls. In those early times the Victoria Falls was a 3 day walk from Pandamatenga.
It is in this prime area of north western Zimbabwe that we hunt the world famous Matesti Safari Area ( Unit 2 ) and the adjoining Kazuma Forest concession.
Both areas are rich with wildlife, varied habitats , big open skies and offer the incredible free range hunting experience of big game safaris as it was in the years gone by.
Both areas annually produce exceptional Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Sable trophies.
